Question: Would you recommend a Southbend eclipse or zebco 33 for bass fishing?

Zebco 33! I own a few and they're extremely inexpensive and work like a charm. I use mine mostly for bait-fishing for channel cats but I occasionally use it for bass. And I use it for carp a lot, too. I have caught 22" carp on one of my 33's, and a 22" carp will fight better than most bass you are going to catch.

Just make sure to match your 33 with a decent, 100% graphite rod. 6' or 6'6" medium action. Like one of the Bass Pro Shops Graphite series rods, one of those would work great.
