If the Netherlands and Hong Kong are doing well, is the world really overpopulated?
Some of the greatest places on Earth are the most populated. Hong Kong and the Netherlands. People take vacations there. Some of the worst places on Earth the most populated, like Rowanda.People consume, yes, but we also produce. We produce superior technology to dig into the planet for more resources. We have only pulled out the low-hanging fruit. There are many many miles you can drill into this Earth for more resources. The Potomac river was so polluted, you could get sick just getting it on you. Now there innertube races. Swimming is permitted.
There is pollution, but far less pollution than in the 60s, when companies were allowed to dump practically anything in the water.
There is overfishing, but most species populate quickly and will bounce back. This happened to the bass and redfish in Texas, there was a ban, now fish have exploded.
Comments?
Steven C. - Really? Mexico has a lot of land. All their population is in one area because of bad management. They have 3 growing seasons to our 1. Their land is more fertile as it has not been as heavily used. There is no reason they can't be living better than the U.S. except for the government.
oikos - I read Limits to Growth in 1983 which said we were exponentially reaching our limits on all resources. It said in the year 2000, we could all just pack it in, as all the limits would be reached. That was 25 years ago. Now the same scare has come again.
In 25 years or 2035, I'll bet you think the world will run out of resources, right?
Question #8:
The good old days, tell me how great this is?
as a former bartender at a very posh beachfront hotel, a Euro trash customer was preaching to one of the waitresses about how awful America was and that she was a "slave to capitalism" (why he came here on vacation is beyond me if he hates it so much) regardless, that day she happened to be on her period and after the chef prepared the man's $75.00 entree she slipped the sea bass into her underwear for a few moments and walked around with it, refilling the Europeans drinks. She then removed it and brought it to his table, where the whole staff bus boys, cooks manager proceeded to watch the man eat the "period" fish. Do you think this type of thing is rare? Do you think that you are immune to karma? We also had something called a "Speedo Steak" that was meant for all the returning customers who were annoying or cheap. One of the male employees was a cocaine addict and cocaine is cut with baby laxatives so he always had the sh*ts, anyways when one of these customers would order we would get the large tongs and swirl the steak or veal whatever around in the diahrea filled toilet bowl. Then we would serve it. This was frequent and always satisfying. Revenge, especially elitists with no manners is a dish best served with drug and blood infested sh*t. :)
@ Dani, actually she got a contract with Ford modeling and married a very famous professional athlete. She is generous and charitable and well liked in the community.

What kind of fish did I catch?
I just got back from a short vacation to southern Florida and while I was down there I caught a fish that is a little confusing to identify. I took a picture and was told that it was a peacock bass but I'm pretty sure it had teeth. It was probably two pounds with the main body being green and fading into gold at the lower body. It also had six black stripes starting at the top of its body and fading towards the belly of the fish. I've always thought that peacock bass do not have teeth. I only took a quick glance at it's mouth before pulling the lure out with a pair of plyers. What I thought I saw was very small teeth that were close together. Was I mistaken? It also had a very flat body instead of what I'm use to with a largemouth bass (the body was kind of like a bluegill or a crappie). I know peacocks are not actually bass but they always looked like very similar in build. Thanks for the help.FOUND IT!!!
Mayan Cichlid
Sheepshead was close but the coloring was wrong. This fish was very brightly colored, not black and white. Thanks anyway.
